Renegades Overhauling Bounties and Seasonal Challenges

As Destiny 2 is currently in a tailspin, Bungie continues to make changes to the experience based on player feedback in an effort to keep fans happy. Just recently, Bungie completely removed Unstable Cores, a resource item introduced in The Edge of Fate for upgrading gear beyond power level 200, though the system never really caught on with players who found it largely frustrating. In an effort to win back players and make the game feel better to play, Bungie reveals plans to overhaul the bounty system.

Destiny 2 Reveals the Orders System

In the latest weekly blog, Bungie reveals the new Orders System, set to launch alongside the upcoming Renegades expansion for Destiny 2. This new system is not only replacing bounties and the traditional Seasonal challenges, but Bungie hopes to make Destiny 2 feel more rewarding by allowing players to do what they want. Inside the seasonal hub, players will have Daily, Weekly, and Active Orders, which focus on certain actions like defeating enemies, using specific weapons or abilities, as well as playing a specific type of activity. Better yet, players in team-based activities will also help contribute to any active orders as well, though the progress from assists is reduced than if done by the player.

Orders come in three different types: Common, Legendary, and Exotic, each offering different levels of rewards. Destiny 2‘s Bright Dust resource will be rewarded on payouts, though Bungie has added a maximum cap per week of 1,000 for Legendary and Common orders and then 6,000 Bright Dust seasonal cap for Exotic. Players can earn a fraction of Bright Dust for turning in Legendary and Exotic orders once over the cap. Once Renegades launches, most bounties will be removed from the game, though off-world vendors like Variks or Petra still have their normal offerings.

While there seems to be general excitement surrounding the Star Wars-inspired Renegades expansion, there’s no denying that Destiny 2 is in a very precarious position. Between the number of bugs and issues, as well as general player frustration over the state of the game, Destiny 2‘s player count continues to dwindle into dangerous new lows. Even popular and prominent members of the Destiny 2 community have started to walk away or take long-term breaks, which puts even more pressure on the December expansion to deliver and win back those who have left.
