LEGO set 42156 is a 1:10 replica of the Peugeot 9X8 24H hybrid electric hypercar. This set was released in 2023 at around the same time the actual car started competing in the 24-hour Le Mans endurance race. The set measures an impressive 19.5″ long, 9″ wide, and 5″ high, which is proportional to other LEGO Technic 18+ vehicle sets. Notable features include a mini-representation of Peugeot’s custom hybrid system with a V6 piston engine combined with an electric motor and battery and functional drivetrain, working suspension, and connected steering. In addition to the livery (stickers), there are glow-in-the-dark lighting elements to mimic the cool green LED “headlights” on the real Peugeot.
Like all larger Technic vehicle builds, this set is designed for ages 18+ (like dad), which is justifiable considering the intrinsic difficulty of Technic pieces. With a total of 1,775 bricks, the Peugeot packs in a lot of detail relative to the scale without being obnoxiously tedious to build. Discounts on flagship Technic cars like these are few and far between, and they’re usually limited to a small number of units and only during special events.
