Nintendo Direct: Ocarina of Time, Kingdom Hearts IV & more

Another Nintendo Direct has come and passed us. These livestreams can be a little hit-or-miss when it comes to what’s revealed, but this month’s edition was jam-packed with reveals (despite the leaks). These are some of the key announcements that took place over the event.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake

The headliner for this event was a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo Switch 2. And this doesn’t look to be an Ocarina of Time 3D situation either – that is, we’ll be seeing the game re-made with modern graphics. The trailer itself doesn’t show us much (though it does have some of the classic Ocarina of Time motifs), but we do get a release window for 2026.

Kingdom Hearts IV

Another upcoming game that got its time in the spotlight is Kingdom Hearts IV. The game was originally announced back in 2022 as part of KH’s 20th anniversary, but after four long years, it finally gets its own official reveal, and from Nintendo, no less. The teaser showcases some of the gameplay we can expect from the game, and while there’s no release date, KH4 will be available on at launch for the Switch 2.

Alongside that, we also have re-packaged releases for some of the existing games via Kingdom Hearts Collection [I~III]. Included in this bundle are Kingdom Hearts -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX-, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind DLC. The collection is available now on Steam for S$147, while it’ll arrive on consoles on 8 October.

Deltarune Chapter 5

It seems like Toby Fox has an in with Nintendo, given that Deltarune’s official paid release outside of PC was announced during last year’s Switch 2 Direct. Deltarune Chapter 5 is the latest in Kris’s saga, and we get a release date that’s not too far from now – 24 June, just in two weeks.

The new chapter will release as a free update for all the platforms the game is available on; that’s PS5, PS4, Switch and Switch 2, and Steam.
