Pokemon’s 30th anniversary in Asia features an interactive fun run

It’s Pokemon’s 30th anniversary, and while we got a bunch of announcements earlier this year – including a new mainline duo of Pokemon games – that’s only just the start.

The Pokemon Company has just launched a Pokemon 30th Anniversary website across seven cities in Asia: Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Bangkok, Manila, Hong Kong and Taipei. Each of the websites will act as a hub for Pokemon-related events happening in their city.

Within the Singapore site, one of the main events announced is the Pokemon RUN 30: Singapore Edition, a 4km fun run taking place from 7 to 8 November at The Kallang, that sees you taking the place of a trainer as you fill up a Pokedex as you travel the route, meeting various Pokemon along the way. And participants will begin the run with any of the classic three starters – Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle.

Here’s what you can expect to get for Pokemon RUN 30.

The run will feature a Pokemon Gym obstacle course, as well as Pokemon Center hydration stations. At the end of the course is the Pokemon Festival Zone, which features an exhibit detailing the history of the Pokemon franchise, an experience zone with content ranging from Pokemon TCG and games on the Nintendo Switch 2, photo spots and more.

For the Pokemon RUN 30 runner’s kit, some of the expected items include a themed T-shirt, drawstring bag, a type-themed bib and the relevant items for the interactive course. Also thrown in is a Pokemon TCG booster pack, and a Pikachu shoulder plushie, though the latter is only for specific ticket purchases.

Although Pokemon RUN 30 requires registration, the Festival Zone is free to enter for all, and there’ll also be a Pokemon Center pop-up store on the site, too. Finally, if you’re a Pokemon Go player, there’s a whole host of Pokemon with increased wild encounters, and timed research events as well. You can see the full list here.

Registration for Pokemon RUN 30: Singapore Edition isn’t open yet, but more information about the run will be coming soon.

Alongside the run, the Pokemon 30th Anniversary website has also teased an event called PokeXciting!, a large-scale celebration of Pokemon’s three decades. It’s set on the same dates as Pokemon RUN 30 in November, and while The Pokemon Company has kept tight-lipped about what it entails, you can expect more announcements to happen as we get closer to the date.
