Singapore to launch accreditation framework for TCM practioners this year

Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners in Singapore will soon be recognized under a new accreditation framework that will launch this year. The Health Ministry says this can uplift the sector by recognising practitioners with higher professional competency, as well as service providers who deliver higher quality care. This was shared by Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State for Health, at an inaugural awards event honouring TCM practitioners in Singapore for their service and contributions. He says the profession continues to grow in number and standard, with TCM increasingly complementing and collaborating with mainstream medicine. And as part of plans to include TCM int the country’s national healthcare system, a call for joint proposals between TCM practitioners and HealthierSG GPs will be launched next week. This is to develop innovative care models that will reach TCM-inclined residents through GPs and improve overall health outcomes within the community. Nadine Yeam reports.
