White Wolf will reveal more about a new Vampire: The Masquerade project at Gen Con 2026

A new Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop project is in the works at White Wolf, and its creators are doubling down on using human-made art rather than AI-generated imagery.

During a panel at Darkness Emergent 2026 on May 22, White Wolf confirmed that a brand-new tabletop RPG project connected to Vampire: The Masquerade is in the works. While not much information was shared in this initial announcement made by creative director Jess Lanzillo, we know when we’ll learn more. It will be fully unveiled during “The Future of White Wolf” panel at Gen Con 2026, and an Actual Play playtest of it will subsequently take place there.

White Wolf explained in the announcement post that the TTRPG’s game design “is focused on player agency, collaboration, and making the experience feel personal.” Essentially, this new project aims to double down on the storytelling and lore of Vampire: The Masquerade and how those elements can better interweave with the gameplay.

White Wolf’s announcement also teased that the game is “built around illustration, with a strong commitment to human-made work.” That feels like a dig at some of the other tabletop RPGs and card games that have been embroiled in AI use or art theft controversies recently, like Magic: The Gathering.

Hasbro was caught using an AI-generated image to market Magic: The Gathering in 2024, while an artist’s work was stolen to create a One Ring card for crossover with The Hobbit earlier this year. The developers of this new Vampire: The Masquerade game committing to using human-made art well ahead of launch is a very good sign when unwanted AI-generated content is encroaching on the tabletop gaming space. White Wolf could also benefit from winning back some goodwill from fans after the mixed reception to recent video games like Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.

We’ll learn more about this new Vampire: The Masquerade project at Gen Con 2026, which will take place in Indianapolis between July 3 and Aug. 2.
