Is a Singaporean breakfast one of the most iconic in the world? I have not had a traditional Singaporean breakfast in a hot minute so during our recent trip we headed to Ya Kun Kaya Toast. It is a famous coffee house chain that sells the iconic Kaya Toast breakfast. So what does a Singaporean breakfast entail? It’s flame grilled toast that is then sandwiched with thick slabs of butter and a generous spread of Kaya jam. Kaya is a coconut curd like jam made with coconut (ofc), egg yolks and palm sugar. You then eat it with soft boiled eggs which are seasoned with soy and white pepper. Of course – we had to get cold milk and kopi (a coffee sweetened with condensed milk).
