Good news if you’ve been eyeing a Model 3 from Tesla. The company has just announced a more affordable version, called the Rear-Wheel Drive 110 that starts at S$179,999.
This means the Model 3 lineup now consists of four models:
- Rear-Wheel Drive 110 (new)
- Premium Rear-Wheel Drive 110
- Premium Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive
- Performance All-Wheel Drive
The new Rear-Wheel Drive 110 qualifies for a Cat A COE and differs from the “Premium” models in a couple of ways. You can see the differences in the table below.

Tesla’s decision to offer an even lower-priced Model 3 should make it more competitive against the current crop of Chinese EVs. More important perhaps is that it gives consumers more options. Yes, this new variant loses some features, but they don’t appear to be outright dealbreakers. I can’t see many people bemoaning the loss of the FM radio or ambient lighting.
For customers, I think what’s most appealing is that this enables them to get a Model 3 with a lower monthly cash outlay. According to Tesla, this new variant can be had for S$1,401 a month – assuming the customer puts a 40% down payment takes a loan from one of Tesla’s “preferred financial institutions” at an interest rate of 1.28% per annum.
