Tomodachi Life players are recreating Minecraft in Living the Dream

Case in point: Reddit user Lotukkab has made Living the Dream almost unrecognizable. In a Reddit thread titled “So Tomodachi-pilled I started playing beta Minecraft… in Tomodachi,” Lutukkab showed off screenshots of their island, which has been completely transformed to look like a Minecraft map. There’s a dirt house, a square treasure chest, blocky terrain, and more pixel-perfect elements from the crafting game. You wouldn’t know you were looking at Living the Dream at a quick glance.

It’s an impressive feat that uses a combination of exterior house designs, outdoor objects, and custom pathways to fundamentally change the game’s aesthetic. Lotukkab says that it was deceptively easy to pull off, too. “It’s actually so chill since you only have to draw one side and then just copy it to the rest,” they wrote in response to someone asking, “What is wrong with you?”

Lotukkab isn’t the first player to bring Minecraft into Tomodachi Life. Since launch, players have added Minecraft Steve to their island, recreated the game’s food, and even cracked how to make Minecraft mushrooms. Put all of those together and you could really make it feel like you’re playing another game entirely.

It feels like the community is only scratching the surface of what’s possible in Living the Dream, at least on a visual level. Similar to what Lotukkab has pulled off, I’ve seen another player turn their island into the Mushroom Kingdom with some clever use of the Palette House. With a little time and effort, I imagine players will be able to turn their islands into any setting they want. I’m excited and terrified to see where that power leads.
