City Energy looks to reduce home fires with Singapore’s first intelligent gas hob

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force’s 2025 annual report, unattended cooking is the number one cause of residential fires in Singapore. Out of 1,051 house fires last year, 318 of them can be attributed to it. It’s clear that there’s a problem to solve here, and City Energy is taking on the challenge with its new Küche Intelligent Gas Hob.

The hob’s Intelligent HeatShield safety system uses a thermistor sensor to monitor the temperature of the cookware being used, and a control chip processes the data in real-time. If the temperature exceeds 280°C and the cookware is overheating due to dry-burn, the hob will automatically cut off gas supply.

There’s also a flame-failure safeguard, with the hob cutting the gas supply if the flame is accidentally extinguished by wind or spills.
