Contrary to popular belief, businesses still need to scan documents, especially as the myth of the paperless office has long passed. Offices still relying on paperwork got a rather compelling nudge to go digital this week. Epson launched the WorkForce DS-530III in Singapore, unveiling its latest A4 duplex sheet-fed colour scanner at a moment when the demand for reliable document digitisation tools is accelerating sharply.
Epson calls the DS-530III its most capable compact scanner yet, engineered to handle the high-volume, mixed-document environments that modern offices increasingly face daily.
The timing was apt. The global document scanning services market was projected to grow from US$5.16 billion in 2025 to US$5.72 billion in 2026, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 10.7%, driven by increasing digitisation needs for paper-based records, expansion of regulatory recordkeeping requirements, and rising demand for secure data storage. In other words, the pressure on organisations to scan more, faster, and more reliably is not letting up anytime soon.
Intelligent document protection and advanced detection features
The DS-530III replaces the DS-530II, and the improvements were tangible rather than cosmetic. The DS-530II scanned at up to 35 pages per minute and 70 images per minute in colour, with a daily duty cycle of 4,000 pages. The DS-530III steps that up to 40 pages per minute and 80 images per minute, with a daily duty cycle of 6,500 pages, representing roughly a 14% speed increase and a 62% capacity improvement over the previous generation.
