Top Singapore hedge fund trader exiled to Australian rival

Regal is part of the much larger Regal Partners, which manages over A$20bn (US$13bn) in assets. Regal Funds Management has offices in Sydney, Singapore and New York. Regal started as a long/short fund (and still maintains a few long/short funds), but now also operates multi-strategy and credit funds, among others.

Tang’s departure from Dymon was unceremonious. A merger arbitrage trader by trade, Tang’s team was closed down by Dymon earlier this year when Bloomberg reported that it hit its stop-loss limit. Merger arbitrage teams like Tang’s were some of the worst-performing in 2024 and Trump’s election was expected to bring a reprieve. Apparently not for everyone.
