Good news, PlayStation 5 Pro owners. You can now download the free update to Cyberpunk 2077, which makes full use of the console’s hardware to provide optimised performance, enhanced visual fidelity with upgraded PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), advanced ray tracing features, and more. The update is designed to leverage the full capabilities of the PS5 Pro hardware, and while I have yet to see the difference in visuals pre- and post-update, it is quite a testament for a developer that almost burned to the ground with a disastrous launch of the original game back in 2020; and only for it to be significantly updated and improved through extensive patches and the Phantom Liberty expansion – turning it into a master piece today.
Essentially, the free update contains three graphics modes for players to choose from. Performance Mode delivers the highest possible frame rate for those who prioritise fast, fluid gameplay, while Ray Tracing Pro delivers the full range of available ray tracing enhancements. Striking a middle ground between the two other modes, Ray Tracing offers a balance between visuals and performance. The full list of features can be found in the recently published patch notes.
