Call of Duty movie gets 2028 release date from Paramount

Paramount Pictures’ new movie based on Activision’s Call of Duty franchise is coming to movie theaters on June 30, 2028, the company announced Thursday at CinemaCon. The summertime release will arrive just before the Call of Duty franchise’s 25th anniversary.

Director Peter Berg (Patriots Day, The Kingdom) is helming the Call of Duty adaptation, working with a script co-written with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, who also wrote the screenplays for Sicario and Hell or High Water. Activision and Paramount announced plans for a big-budget Call of Duty movie last year, promising to deliver “what fans love about the iconic series, while boldly expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences.”

“The film will honor and expand upon what has made this franchise great in the first place, and we cannot wait to get started,” Rob Kostich, president of Activision, said at the time. “Our shared goal is quite simple — to create an unforgettable blockbuster movie experience that our community loves, and one that also excites and inspires new fans of the franchise.”
