In a leaked internal memo, Xbox chief Asha Sharma admits that Xbox Game Pass has become too expensive for gamers and that change is needed.
If you recall, Microsoft increased the prices of all Xbox Game Pass tiers last year. Though the hikes for the Essential and Premium tiers were moderate, the gamers who subscribed to the Ultimate tier saw their monthly subscriptions increase from S$18.90 to S$29.99 – that’s an increase of 58%.
Sharma added that Xbox Game Pass is central to gaming value on the Xbox, and that “the current model isn’t the final one.” She elaborated:
