Castlevania, Don’t Starve, and more

Several new games were revealed today at the third Triple-i Initiative Showcase, a livestream dedicated to highlighting independent games. The show gave us a fresh look at Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse and revealed surprising new installments in the Don’t Starve and Temtem series.

The Triple-i Initiative is an annual showcase put together by Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse developer Evil Empire. The show was created three years ago to put a spotlight on indie games, and it has delivered some big game news over that time, including Slay the Spire 2‘s official reveal. This year’s show was similarly eventful. New game reveals include Temtem: Pioneers (a survival spinoff of the monster-catching RPG series), Don’t Starve Elsewhere, and Prove You’re Human, the latest game from the developer of 1000xResist. We also learned about new DLC coming to games like Cairn and Risk of Rain 2.

Here are the biggest announcements from Triple-i Initiative Showcase, which featured news on 40 games in total.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse

While we didn’t get a release date for Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, we did see some gameplay footage showing off its action and exploration. It’s very reminiscent of Dead Cells, but placed into a traditional 2D Metroidvania format. The game is still set for a 2026 release.

Temtem: Pioneers

After finding success riffing on Pokémon with Temtem in 2020, developer Crema is going the way of Palworld with Temtem: Pioneers. The latest game in the monster-catching series is an open-world overhaul that ditches turn-based combat for real-time battles, and includes survival crafting elements. Alongside the announcement, Crema opened a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the game’s development.
