Denon launches wireless smart speaker collection for modern homes

In a bid to keep up with evolving audio trends, Denon has launched a collection of three wireless smart speakers for modern-looking or minimalist homes, while maintaining a decent range of connectivity options.

The Denon Home 200, 400, and 600 wireless smart speakers all deliver room-sized audio, but the model you choose depends on the room you want it in and how many drivers you want.

Regardless, all three support Dolby Atmos Music and Hi-Res Audio, are compatible with Apple’s voice assistant (Siri) via their built-in microphones, have app controls, and can pair in stereo or surround with other Denon Home speakers or a soundbar.

These are on top of a variety of wireless and wired inputs, including Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, as well as a 3.5mm Aux In and USB-C for Ethernet or stored music (power comes via another separate 100-240V port).

Here are the configurations for each wireless smart speaker to help you decide on the right size for the right room(s):

This 2.2kg, 216mm-tall speaker has three Class-D power amplifiers, three drivers, and two 25mm tweeters integrated into a cylindrical form factor (140 x 140mm). It even manages to pack in a 102mm woofer, with tactile controls dotting its lower base.

Given its size and output, it’s ideal for quiet, small rooms or near-field desktop use, or it can act as a surround speaker for a much larger Denon Home system.

The official price is €349 (~S$517.68), and Denon Singapore lists it at S$599.

Denon Home 400

This oblong speaker (300mm wide, 219mm tall) is a tad heavier at 4.2kg, and that’s because Denon has packed in six Class-D amps, six drivers, and two 19mm tweeters. The extras include two upfiring 25mm tweeters and two 114mm woofers for extra oomph.

The heft makes it ideal as a sole speaker for master bedrooms or guest spaces in apartments.

Internationally, it’s €499 (~S$740.17), but Denon Singapore has it at S$899.

Going up another size is the 8kg, 451mm-wide Denon Home 600. Designed for large spaces like living rooms (or bigger), it packs an impressive array of eight Class-D amps, eight drivers, two 19mm tweeters, two 66mm midrange drivers, two 66mm upfiring speakers, and two 165mm woofers for bass.

The pill-shaped design also makes it easy to display the speaker as a centrepiece on a long console table, or as a statement piece on a smaller, taller island. If you intend to squeeze it under a smart TV, do take note of its 226mm height.

It has an international RRP of €699 (~S$1,036.84), and Denon Singapore’s is at S$1,399.
