What first sounded like something supernatural has now become a worrying mystery for one Upper Bukit Timah resident.
Stomper Yvonne, who lives at a condominium in the area, said she has been hearing loud, distressing screams almost daily over the past few weeks.
“The horrifying screams are distressing and disturbing,” she said.
“At first, I thought it was something supernatural.
“It started during the Hungry Ghost Festival. I thought it could be someone who got possessed or something.
“But when it kept happening, I decided to investigate.”
Yvonne recorded two short clips, one on Oct 15 at about 12.20pm and another on Oct 16 at 10.47am, showing a boy in school uniform screaming repeatedly.
“At first, it was just shock and annoyance,” she shared. “But now I feel worried for the people around him.”
The Stomper added that she initially assumed the screams were just a one-off outburst, but their consistency and intensity made her fear that the boy could be struggling emotionally.
“My husband, who’s a secondary school teacher, said it’s not uncommon for students to act out if they’re going through stress or problems at home,” she said.
“He could be going through some troubles at school or home and is venting out.
“I was suspecting it could also be the type of music he listens to that influences his outbursts. It sounds like some extreme death metal music.”
Yvonne added that she is considering reporting the incident to the boy’s school out of concern.
