MacBook Neo: Apple’s most repair-friendly Mac in years


As with any new Apple product, teardown videos for the MacBook Neo surfaced almost immediately, and two early videos suggest Apple’s most affordable laptop is its most modular and repair-friendly in more than a decade.

Australian YouTube repair channel Tech Re-Nu took just 6 minutes to partially disassemble the laptop, highlighting the straightforward internal layout, from the use of standard Torx screws to the neatly organised cable routing.

One of the most notable changes is the battery design. Unlike previous MacBook models, where the battery is secured with stretch-release adhesive tabs or strong glue, the MacBook Neo uses a screw-mounted battery housed in a tray. Removing the battery requires taking out just 18 screws and then simply lifting it out..
