Food costs are on the rise, but an eatery in Tampines said its portion sizes and pricing have remained unchanged for over a decade.
Al Mahboob Rojak’s response comes after a customer expressed shock after being charged $8 for sotong in his Indian rojak.
Stomper Rahman‘s son had made an online order worth $30.30 from the restaurant on Oct 14, at around 1.22pm.
Rahman said: “I know Indian rojak is very expensive, but I was still taken aback by the cost of one of the items! An $8 cuttlefish is out of this world! See how big it is.”

Rahman shared photos showing his meal and the sotong cut into eight pieces.
In response to a Stomp query, Al Mahboob Rojak said: “We appreciate the feedback and the opportunity to clarify.
“Seafood items such as sotong are considered premium dishes at Al Mahboob, prepared using fresh, quality ingredients.
“We take great pride in maintaining both the taste and standards our customers have come to expect over the past 30 years. Our portion size and pricing for sotong have remained unchanged for more than a decade.
“We continuously strive to offer value through quality, and we’re grateful for the continued support of our loyal patrons.”
The restaurant also shared “sample pictures” of orders in the same price range to show what they actually look like.
