Singapore looking to turn more underused spaces into sports facilities


Authorities will study how older buildings and spaces beneath viaducts can be retrofitted into sports facilities over the next five years. One example is at Farrer Park, where a bus terminal doubles as pickleball courts for most of the week before reverting to its transport role on Sundays. The initiative supports plans to add 50 multi-purpose courts for badminton and pickleball islandwide, with the goal of placing affordable sports facilities within a 10-minute walk of most homes by 2030.
