US President Donald Trump fired Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and nominated Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma to lead the department. The leadership change comes as criticism mounted over immigration enforcement and internal management at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), according to reports.
Trump announced the decision while naming Mullin as his choice to replace Noem. Mullin, a close Trump ally, will require confirmation by the US Senate before taking the role.
