Best PC Games With Low Specs

Best PC Games With Low Specs

PC offers by far the most varied gaming library in the industry. While associated with raw graphical power due to the ever-growing capabilities of GPUs and CPUs, major AAA projects that need fairly modern hardware are merely a drop in the bucket. Each week, Steam and the Epic Games Store welcome dozens of great low-end PC games, ensuring players with older systems or non-gaming laptops always have something to look forward to.

Furthermore, patient players can turn to decades of AAA games that are accessible nowadays, with most running at near-perfect quality on modern low-spec PCs. As there are thousands of options available, picking out a few of the best games for low-spec PCs can be quite challenging. As such, let’s highlight a few of them.

Updated December 28, 2025, by Mark Sammut: PC gaming has always been an expensive hobby to get started with, and things are about to get way more costly. So, some people who were planning an upgrade might be looking to stick with their current setup for a while longer, as new parts come with broken prices. Rather than adding more games, we have incorporated a section detailing what a low-end PC looks like nowadays.

What Counts As A Low-Spec PC In 2026?

InZOI Gaming at PC Cafe

You probably already know, but this is not a great time to build or upgrade a PC. The market is currently defined by a lack of resources, causing simple things like RAM cards to demand prices that used to be limited to mid-tier GPUs and high-tier CPUs. Due to the ludicrous cost of building a PC nowadays, I imagine most people will be looking to stick with their current builds or maybe a laptop that does not cost an arm and a leg. Hopefully, developers will adapt to match the circumstances, opting to optimize games for low-end builds.

The Most Common GPUs And CPUs, According To Steam

Going by Steam’s hardware survey for November 2025, the following GPUs are the most common: RTX 4060, RTX 3060, RTX 3050, and GTX 1650. Although the first two approach mid-tier, these graphics cards are all showing their age nowadays, and the last two were entry-level when they came out in 2022 and 2019, respectively. While not weak by any stretch of the imagination, the GTX 1650 is arguably the new low-end benchmark for gaming PCs, with the RTX 3050 a close second.

CPU-wise, Steam details that most players have either an Intel CPU that delivers between 2.3–2.69 GHz of speed, or an AMD that offers 3.7 GHz. AMD hardware is arguably the better option nowadays, although its GPUs and CPUs are likely to see a price hike in 2026.

Low-End Gaming PC Builds

Now, the ideal PC build will depend on somebody’s usage and requirements. If you mostly want a workstation with light gaming, then a good CPU and high RAM should be prioritized. If you are building specifically for gaming, the GPU should be your biggest investment, although you should not ignore the CPU since it will impact your framerate.

Here are a few tiers of low-end PCs, just to give a general idea of what we are working with.

Megabonk

Steam User Rating: 93%

Games like Vampire Survivors are everywhere on Steam, and their popularity is partially credited to their accessibility. With most being 2D and being very much “small” experiences, you can basically run them on anything, and they have a pick-up-and-play quality that is just straight-up addictive. Megabonk is, technically, just another one of these types of games, but with one huge difference: 3D.

Yes, vedinad added another dimension, which unsurprisingly makes for a big change in a genre that is all about movement (as, like always, weapons attack automatically). Otherwise, Megabonk follows the traditional formula of trying to survive for as long as possible against waves of enemies and bosses, all the while leveling up and unlocking new tweaks and abilities. Due to the 3D maps, planning routes is way more important than usual, and there is actually quite a bit to discover beyond just enemies and crates. You also collect silver to buy things like new characters, so there is a sense of progression too.

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Steam User Rating: 91%

The 7-year itch is gone – Silksong is finally out. More importantly, Hollow Knight‘s long-awaited sequel looks gorgeous and runs beautifully, which should not come as a surprise considering its predecessor’s quality. Despite nearly a decade passing since HK‘s debut, and Team Cherry nowadays being one of the most well-known developers ever, Silksong is still very much an indie Metroidvania that is intended to be as accessible as possible, at least when it comes to specs. The game is easy to run, as all you need is a 2012 i3 CPU and a 2011 GPU to meet the minimum requirements. If you have a moderately new system, you will probably be able to run Silksong at its recommended specs.

Silksong: Best Tips for Beginners

These eight best Silksong beginner tips will help both new players and veterans find their footing in Pharloom’s haunted lands.

Hype can be both a good and bad thing, and few games have had as much hype as Silksong. While garnering its share of criticisms, which is to be expected of any project, the sequel has mostly garnered a standing ovation for its challenging but fun boss fights, good gameplay, amount of content, and world design. Silksong is also notoriously difficult, especially for people who might not have dropped a million hours in Hollow Knight. Even the latter’s veterans will need to unlearn a few things if they want to beat Team Cherry’s latest masterpiece.

Peak

Steam User Rating: 94%

Coming a bit out of nowhere, Peak quickly cemented itself as one of the most popular low-end games on Steam, along with being a fantastic co-op experience. A live-service project that constantly throws out new maps, Peak challenges you and a few friends to, well, reach a mountain’s peak, a journey that sees you go through four distinct areas while you search for something to eat and pray that you avoid the many hazards along the way.

Considering it does not require all that much juice to run, Peak looks pretty decent and stylish, with its simple aesthetic matching its lighthearted but challenging gameplay. While definitely a game that needs to be played with a group of friends you feel comfortable with, Peak is very easy to recommend to anyone craving a multiplayer adventure.

Deltarune

Steam User Rating: 98%

Undertale‘s spiritual successor, Deltarune, has been around on PC since 2018, which marked the launch of its first chapter. Since then, the game’s momentum has been somewhat stop-and-start due to infrequent releases, but 2025 is now the best time to jump into this universe as the first four chapters are all available. The story is not quite done yet since chapter 5 is on the horizon, but there is more than enough content to keep someone busy for a fairly long time.

8 Things Deltarune Does Better Than Undertale

Deltarune, the spiritual successor to the beloved Undertale, improves on the first game in a number of surprising ways.

Similar to Undertale, Deltarune is a turn-based RPG that takes quite a few risks with the genre, delivering an experience that has very few peers. With top-notch storytelling, simple but effective visuals, and ambitious ideas, Toby Fox’s project should be played by everyone, regardless of their PC’s specs.

Ultrakill

Steam User Rating: 97%

Steam is stuffed with modern boomer shooters, most of which use old-school visuals that make them easily workable on most decent systems. As fun as most of these games are, they do have a habit of blending, creating an undecipherable blob of shotguns, pixilated body parts, and gore. Despite adhering to this trend, Ultrakill succeeds in standing out from the crowd, providing an experience that is both unique and representative of the FPS genre at its best.

Players looking to wield the best weapons in Ultrakill can’t go wrong with these choices.

The goal of the game is not just to kill but to do it in style, to the point of containing a point system reminiscent of Devil May Cry. In fact, Ultrakill combines the thrill of fast-paced shooters with the player-based reward system of character action games, a completely harmonious marriage. As long as somebody doesn’t mind high difficulty and early access releases, they should add Ultrakill to their library.

Schedule 1

Steam User Rating: 98%

Well, this game came out of nowhere and instantly jumped up the Steam charts, becoming one of the platform’s biggest hits of 2025 (so far). Putting aside everything else, Schedule 1‘s success can at least partially be credited to its relatively low specs for a modern release that is not a side-scroller, granting it access to a pretty wide audience right out of the gate. Although still in early access, the project is already robust enough to provide a satisfying experience, and its roadmap is also encouraging.

Schedule 1 Roadmap & All Upcoming Content

If the official Schedule 1 roadmap is anything to go by, players have an awful lot to look forward to over the coming weeks and months.

So, what is Schedule 1? Well, VGS has put together a management sim, albeit one that focuses on crafting a crime empire by selling drugs. Schedule 1 players mix recipes, sell products, turn a profit, and try to stay away from the cops. The concept has certainly caught the attention of the PC gaming scene, and the project seems set to remain a Steam staple for a while.

Don’t Starve Together

Steam User Rating: 95%

One of the best low-spec games for multiplayer, Don’t Starve Together has aged beautifully over the last decade, largely thanks to a timeless art style and simple but addictive gameplay. Now, if somebody is craving a single-player survival game, they should pick up Don’t Starve, another fantastic title that has stood the test of time. However, if they would prefer to join forces with a couple of friends as they try to survive and thrive in an extremely harsh wasteland, they will want to pick up this multiplayer-only spin-off.

Rather than focus on a story, Don’t Starve Together is all about gameplay, with lore bits being dropped sporadically. Players are dropped into an unwelcoming world and challenged to explore, farm, and grow, all the while dealing with some pretty dangerous threats. Replayable and just plain old fun, this game is a classic by this point.

R.E.P.O.

Steam User Rating: 96%

Entering early access toward the end of February 2025, R.E.P.O. was pretty much an instant hit, and its presence only grew as positive word of mouth spread. In the last few years, co-op horror games with roguelike elements have become fairly common, and semiwork’s project is certainly reminiscent of other popular titles like Lethal Company. However, R.E.P.O. does a pretty great job of setting itself apart from the crowd, both in terms of gameplay and tone.

R.E.P.O. – Best Weapons, Ranked

It’s hard to go wrong with the following weapon choices in R.E.P.O.

As always, players will travel through Headman Manor searching for valuables that will help them reach their quota. Naturally, accomplishing this task requires staying away from a whole host of monsters, including a few genuinely nightmarish creatures. While certainly capable of inspiring a scream or two, R.E.P.O. has a comedic edge, largely thanks to the design of the playable characters. Any group of friends looking for a relatively low-spec co-op horror game should check this out; that said, R.E.P.O. will likely require a dedicated GPU.

Balatro

Steam User Rating: 98%

Earning a nomination for best game of 2024 by the Game Awards, Balatro is an incredible achievement, especially considering it was made by a one-person development team. Inspired by Poker but not featuring any real gambling, Balatro is a clever roguelike and deck-builder that has a simple but addictive loop that is perfect for both quick explosive sessions and hours-long marathons. While there are plenty of nuances to consider, the main goal is to achieve the required score as quickly as possible, all in the hopes of moving on to the next round.

Balatro is a fantastic game that can keep somebody entertained for an extremely long time, and it requires barely any juice under the hood to operate. Speaking purely in terms of quality to system requirements, Balatro might be the most valuable on Steam in this day and age, especially since it is a 2024 release and not a classic that has been around for years.
