Thailand and Cambodia agreed to an immediate ceasefire to end weeks of deadly border clashes, effective Dec. 27, after about 20 days of fighting that killed over 100 people and displaced more than half a million. The deal was signed by both countries’ defence ministers following three days of talks. Both sides will maintain current troop positions, and civilians in affected areas can return home. Thailand will return 18 Cambodian soldiers if the truce holds for 72 hours. The ceasefire drew international attention amid heightened regional tensions and calls for de-escalation. #thailand #cambodia #news Photo by SCMP.
