LG and Samsung announce new RGB LED TVs ahead of CES 2026, with smaller screen sizes


CES is returning in early January 2026, and already companies are dishing out details about what to expect in Las Vegas next month. This includes LG and Samsung, which have unveiled, among others, new products in the RGB LED TV category.

Though the names for the different screen technologies can get easily mixed up, RGB LED should not be confused with microLED. While microLED refers to a display made up of individually lit pixels, RGB LED displays still utilise a backlight, but replace the traditional white LEDs with a cluster of red, green and blue ones, hence the name.

In theory, this leads to high brightness, especially in comparison to OLED, as well as more vibrant colour reproduction. In practice, though, it’s still a nascent technology. Hisense was the first major manufacturer to bring it to market, revealing its 116UX TV at CES 2025, while Samsung followed suit with its equally huge 115-inch Micro RGB TV last August.
