Huawei launches global version of its foldable Mate X7

Huawei has finally unveiled the global variant of its next-generation book-style foldable phone, the Huawei Mate X7. This came shortly after its November 2025 announcement for its home market, Mainland China.

The global launch was held in Dubai, UAE, and it also featured other Huawei gadgets like the FreeClip 2 headphones, the Royal Gold colourway for Huawei Watch Ultimate Design, and a new MatePad tablet.

Huawei Mate X7

Huawei Mate X7 is the latest addition to its standard book-style phone lineup, succeeding the previous Huawei Mate X6 (our hands-on experience here). The launch timing and phone name imply it’s meant to be a tantalising alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 (our review here), especially if you don’t want Google’s mobile ecosystem or Korean-made AI assistants.

The physical improvements are relatively incremental. According to its spec sheet, the Huawei Mate X7 measures 9.5mm when folded, which is 0.35mm thinner than its predecessor. It’s also 3g lighter.

However, Huawei claims that its rear cameras are now on par with a standard flagship phone, with 43% improved colour accuracy through its new Ultra Lighting HDR Camera, Ultra-Wide Camera, and Telephoto Macro Camera (3.5x optical zoom). They all feature Huawei’s unique RYYB sensors and are 50MP, 40MP, and 50MP, respectively.

Other improved perks are its Ultra-Reliable Foldable Architecture, a fancy name for its combination of hinges, glass, and its 3,550m² heat dissipation system, finished off with a 5,600mAh battery within.

The battery is further supported by 50W Huawei Wireless SuperCharge and 66W wired charging, and it is IP58/IP59-rated for water and dust resistance.

The usual Huawei caveats apply: the phone runs on EMUI 15, lacks eSIM support, and supports up to 4G networks via its dual-SIM card configuration. It, however, still keeps up with the latest technologies it’s allowed to carry, such as Bluetooth 6.0 and a USB-C port with USB 3.1 Gen 1 speeds.

Finally, while the spec sheet doesn’t declare what processor it uses, GSMArena has it listed as the 6nm Kirin 9030 Pro.

Pricing and availability

Huawei Mate X7 comes in a single 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant, with three colourways: Brocade White, Nebula Red, and Black. It has an official price tag of €2,099 (~S$3,183.06).
