Singapore reaffirms zero tolerance for hate speech after Bondi Beach attack; Singapore swimmers win 19 golds at SEA Games: Singapore live news

Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs K Shanmugam said Singapore will not allow hate speech against any group, following the Bondi Beach shooting in Australia where at least 16 people were killed, including a child.

Shanmugam linked the attack to rising antisemitism in Australia, CNA reported, citing data from the Executive Council of Australian Jewry showing incidents at “unprecedentedly high levels.”

He stressed that Singapore’s laws prohibit hate speech against Muslims, Jews, Christians, Hindus or communities defined by identity, such as LGBT groups.
