We Asked GR Readers To Predict The Multiplayer Game of the Year Winner

With the nominations for The Game Awards now set, we asked the Game Rant community their thoughts on one of the many hotly-contested categories. Here’s how the nominees for Multiplayer GOTY rank, according to GR readers.

Which game do you think deserves to win Best Multiplayer at The Game Awards 2025?

The results of the GR Community Multiplayer Game of the Year poll

  • ARC Raiders – 33% / 270 votes
  • Other (A game that wasn’t nominated) – 18% / 152 votes
  • Battlefield 6 – 18% / 152 votes
  • PEAK – 12% / 99 votes
  • Split Fiction – 10% / 81 votes
  • Elden Ring Nightreign – 9% / 75 votes

It may have the advantage of being a recent release, but there’s no denying the popularity of ARC Raiders, which has comfortably taken the top spot as the community favorite to take out the best multiplayer game. The second most popular answers were for Battlefield 6, which has been a real return to form, and for games that weren’t nominated. It’s been such a strong showing for multiplayer games this year, that other great titles like R.E.P.O, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Borderlands 4, and even Marvel Rivals (which would have been eligible this year due to December release last year) missed out on a spot in the top five.

Perhaps one of the biggest surprises in The Game Awards nominations this year was Split Fiction missing out on a nomination for Game of the Year. It was a very early favorite in the race, and seems to have fallen victim to a slew of really strong games. It’s also looking unlikely to win Multiplayer Game of the Year, if the GR community are correct. The same could be said for Elden Ring Nightreign, a game that had a lot to live up to, given its link to a Game of the Year winner itself, which also does not appear to be favored to win in this category.

One of the surprise packets for this year has been the indie sensation PEAK. Since it’s mid-year release, the game has been received with an overwhelming amount of positive feedback as being a fun, whimsical, and chaotic adventure for players to enjoy with friends. It’s certainly a game that doesn’t take itself seriously, which has clearly been something that the gaming community have embraced, making its positioning over the likes of some AAA giants all the more impressive.

There’s no doubt it’s been a terrific year for games this year, but 2025 has produced some top-notch co-op experiences in particular. Despite the results being heavily in ARC Raiders‘ favor, any of the nominees for this year’s award could take out the top prize. All will become clear on December 11!
