Modder Rixus is taking Nuevo Paraiso from RDR1 and rebuilding it to make it part of RDR2‘s map.
Nuevo Paraiso is a fictional Mexican territory that played an essential role in RDR1‘s story, and while Mexico can be accessed in RDR2 through a glitch, it doesn’t really feature any content. This barren version of Mexico has left a lot of players with the gnawing desire to experience the territory with RDR2‘s graphics, and thanks to Rixus, that’s finally going to become a reality. The mod is officially being called Nuevo Paraiso — The Final Frontier, and not only does it expand RDR2‘s map, but it’s building upon the game’s story, too.

What Makes This Red Dead 2 Mod So Special?
For starters, the biggest draw of this mod is that it’s integrating itself into RDR2‘s actual story. Specially-crafted side missions and fresh lore are bound to add even more depth to a story that’s already hailed as one of the best in gaming. Of course, it will all be non-canon, but what matters is that the game will get fresh story content that finally turns RDR2‘s Mexico into a reality. Mexico being scrapped from RDR2‘s final product feels like a big missed opportunity, especially when the territory’s introduction in RDR1 was so epic.
Entering Mexico on horseback as John Marston while “Far Away” by Jose Gonzalez plays is still one of the most beautifully cinematic moments featured in a video game, and RDR2 deserves its own epic Nuevo Paraiso moment. Even in the mod trailer that Rixus made to hype up the expansion, “Far Away” is used as the teaser’s music. It’s a standout moment in RDR1, and the promise of something similar being possible with RDR2‘s far superior visuals is an exciting thought.
