One Piece’s protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy is one of the best-written characters in Oda’s manga. Fans know him to be incredible in just about every way, be it his mentality or his incredible leadership skills. Oda wrote Luffy to be a guy in love with adventure, and with time, Oda morphed him into the Warrior of Liberation who frees people wherever he goes. No matter which way fans look at him, Luffy is an absolute icon, and in the current pirate era of the One Piece world, he’s undoubtedly the greatest up-and-coming pirate.
One Piece: Oda Might Have Already Revealed Luffy’s Mom, And It Was Right In Front Of Our Eyes
Who Luffy’s mom is is a huge mystery – but Oda might have already revealed who she is in One Piece.
While the vast majority of One Piece is about Luffy and his journey, it is also important to note that he isn’t the last pirate there will be, and that there is definitely going to be a new generation after him. Luffy’s successors will chase the same freedom that he did, and eventually. As it so happens, Oda has already revealed the successor to Luffy in One Piece’s Elbaf arc, and it is none other than Colon, the son of Scopper Gaban and Ripley.
Luffy’s Heir Is Going To Be Gaban’s Son Colon
Throughout his journey, Luffy has met many interesting characters, and he’s also inspired quite a lot. But, out of the next generation characters that look up to Luffy and are a spitting image of him, Colon is the best there is. Some fans might make a case for Momonosuke, but the fact is that he’s the exact opposite of Luffy, and his dream isn’t to be a pirate but to lead Wano. Some would also say Makino’s child could be Luffy’s successor, but there’s nothing to go off of there.

One Piece: Oda Reveals the New Roger, and It Isn’t Luffy
Luffy will not be this generation’s Roger. This role is reserved for another One Piece character.
Meanwhile, Colon met Shanks in a bar, just like Luffy, and begged him to take him to sea. Colon was also asked to wait for Luffy by Shanks, and when they met, he made it clear that he wanted to be a pirate captain one day. Colon wants to be strong, and most of all, he’s just like Luffy in terms of personality. Even his bravery is very similar to that of Luffy’s when he was a child.

Colon Carries The True Essence Of A Pirate
Colon may be young, but he’s exactly what an aspiring pirate should be. He’s kind and helpful, and most certainly wants to protect all those whom he holds dear. Above all, he’s been inspired by Luffy and Shanks, so it is quite easy to see that he would fight the good fight.
Gaban’s Son Will Lead Elbaf’s Next Generation After Loki
Luffy’s journey with the crew will eventually come to an end and fans know that he will continue to sail the seas, but regardless of what he does, a new generation must rise. Gaban’s son, Colon, is going to be the leader of his new generation and the heir to Luffy.

The way Oda has written him, had him idolize both Luffy and Shanks, and made him the spitting image of the Straw Hat pirate goes to show that he’s next in line to be the leader of the next generation, and fans can’t wait to see that. For now, Oda can’t show his life as a pirate in great detail since he’s quite young, but eventually, Colon will grow older and set out to sea to dominate the new era. When that happens, both Luffy and Shanks will be glad about it, and they’ll both love to track his progress.
