Steam users can pick up co-op action game Warhammer: Vermintide 2 for free for a limited time. Once added to the Steam library, players can keep the game without having to pay anything.
While Steam doesn’t make a selection of games free every week like the Epic Games Store, there are occasional freebies offered on the platform. Whether one is looking for a game to play now or they’re just interested in adding as many games to their libraries as possible, this one is a good addition to include.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is Free to Keep for a Limited Time
PC gamers on Steam can pick up Warhammer: Vermintide 2 for free until November 24. The game has an average ‘Very Positive’ rating on the platform, and no subscription fees, so once a player has added it to their Steam library, they can play it as much as they want for as long as they like. Vermintide 2 originally launched in 2018, and has seen a spiritual successor in the form of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, which came out in 2022. However, the game is still being supported, with Vermintide 2 receiving regular content updates, as well as a DLC class for each playable character added since the game’s launch. Vermintide 2 can be claimed on Steam until November 24 at 10 am PT.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 puts players in the role of members of a strained partnership called the Ubersreik 5, who are fighting against the End Times. Though each match is limited to four players, with bots filling in for any vacancies, there are five characters in total players can choose between. These include Saltzpyre, the zealot Sigmar follower, Kruber the mercenary, Bardin the Dwarven ranger, Kerillian the Waystalker elf, and Sienna, a fire-elemental Battle Wizard. Each Vermintide 2 character has four classes to choose from that dramatically change their playstyles, with the first three being unlockable in-game, while the last are paid DLC classes.
Though set in the sword-and-magic universe of Warhammer, the game has frequently been compared to Left 4 Dead. The two share similar mechanics, with a four-member team, hordes of enemies, specials, and bosses to face off against. Spawns are somewhat randomized, so players don’t have the exact same experience twice even when playing the same map. Similar to Left 4 Dead, Vermintide 2 also added its own PVP mode not long ago, putting players in the role of the heroes or the Skaven in 4v4 matches. A roguelike mode called the Chaos Wastes is also available to play at no extra cost. In all, players who like games like Left 4 Dead should have plenty to keep them busy in this game.
