Ballot papers, other documents used in GE2025 to be destroyed on Nov 22

SINGAPORE – Ballot papers and other documents used in the 2025 General Election will be destroyed on Nov 22, said the Elections Department (ELD) on Nov 10.

The move, which is in accordance with the Parliamentary Elections Act, will see all sealed boxes containing ballot papers and other documents used in the election transported from the Supreme Court, where they have been kept in custody, to the Tuas South Incineration Plant for destruction.

Under the Act, the items have to be sealed and retained in safe custody for six months, after which they will be destroyed unless otherwise directed by order of the President.

This is to ensure the secrecy of the vote, ELD said.
