Diablo 4’s New Endgame Activity Offers Exclusive Cosmetics For the Best Players

Diablo 4 Associate Game Director Zaven Haroutunian has confirmed that the new Season 11 endgame activity, The Tower, will feature exclusive cosmetics that only the very best players will be able to unlock. However, players shouldn’t expect to be able to get these rewards right at the start of Diablo 4 Season 11.

Blizzard is launching The Tower as part of Diablo 4 Season 11, offering a new endgame activity for experienced players to complete. Crucially, The Tower will finally bring leaderboards back to Diablo 4, which the community has been clamoring for ever since their removal in Season 6. But for many of the best Diablo 4 players, just topping the leaderboards isn’t enough when it comes to bragging rights, and Blizzard is well aware of this for The Tower.

Diablo 4 Players Can Earn ‘Prestige’ Cosmetics From The Tower By Topping Leaderboards

Speaking to YouTuber Rob2628, Associate Game Director Zaven Haroutunian confirmed that The Tower endgame activity in Diablo 4 will give “functional rewards” such as gear and currency, but will also feature new “prestige” cosmetics, including titles and halos for the best players at the top of the leaderboards at the time of every reset. According to Haroutunian, the idea for titles is that “your character earns the right to have this title, and there’s some special formatting and visuals on that.” Halos will be another exclusive cosmetic that players who top the leaderboards will be able to equip, which Haroutunian says is a way for players “to have bragging rights.”

All of these Diablo 4 cosmetics will be tied to the specific character that earns it, rather than the account. “It belongs to that guy. Not your account, you can’t just equip it on a Level 1, or anything like that… So, ‘Holy s***, that guy got first place on the Barb leaderboard’ or something like that… this is a very exclusive list of people that are going to be able to do this. It’s the top placements from across the community.” Haroutunian says that Blizzard is still discussing how often the leaderboards will be reset in Season 11 and beyond.

Players shouldn’t expect to be able to earn these new cosmetics immediately, though. Because of their exclusivity and Blizzard’s desire to make them a status symbol among the community, it’s also taking the time to ensure that The Tower is a “super high-integrity space” before handing out rewards. “Everything actually has to be functional, it has to actually be balanced, it has to be perceived as fair by the community, it has to be accepted by the community.” Haroutunian insists that “we’re committed to doing this, it’s going to happen. All eyes right now are on making sure Tower is a competitive place, that it has leaderboard integrity,” but it’s not clear whether these exclusive Tower rewards will even make it into Diablo 4 Season 11, or whether they’ll be pushed further down the line.
