Singapore kicks off Christmas season of giving with Community Chest light-up along Orchard Road

Singapore has kicked off the Christmas spirit of giving with its annual light-up along major shopping street Orchard Road. At the launch, national philanthropic arm Community Chest said it has raised over S$9 million this year. The funds will be used to support around 300 programmes for different causes. President Tharman Shanmugaratnam kickstarted the event, which featured performances by the beneficiaries from St Andrew’s Autism Centre and TOUCH Centre. Chloe Teo reports.
