Every Free Game You Can Keep on Steam, Epic, PS Plus, and Xbox (Nov. 6-12)

As the weekend approaches, you might start to wonder which games you should spend your free time on — that is, if you’re not playing The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake on Nintendo Switch 2.

If you’re like me, you’re actively avoiding games that take too long to finish until Grand Theft Auto 6 arrives. Thankfully, most of this week’s free-to-keep and free-to-play games don’t have an actual ending, so you can put them down whenever you please. You can try one run and then move on to the next one, or you can play them obsessively until GTA 6 launches at midnight.

Before you give this week’s games a try, don’t forget to claim this month’s PlayStation Plus freebies, which we covered in last week’s article.

Last Gambit

  • Available on Steam until Nov. 13
  • Genre: Strategy, roguelite
  • How long to beat: N/A
  • Developer: Trabucco Team

Last Gambit is a roguelite game that turns chess into a magical battlefield. Instead of starting with 16 pieces like a standard game of chess, you must obtain them as you progress. You can combine and upgrade them however you see fit in order to build your army and become the strongest you can be.

This is a fresh take on a centuries-old game. Last Gambit is free while in early access. When it fully launches on Nov. 13, it will cost $4.99. Claim it before then to add it to your Steam library, and it’ll be yours to keep.

Flotsam

  • Available on Epic Games until Nov. 12
  • Genre: City builder, colony sim
  • How long to beat: 5-10 hours
  • Developer: Pajama Llama Games

If you enjoy city builders like SimCity and Cities: Skylines, Flotsam is for you. However, instead of just magically making buildings appear, you have to gather trash and resources floating in the ocean to build your town.

As you go, you’ll come across survivors and pets that might just want to move in if you make them a nice home. With the tech tree, you can unlock new buildings and gradually improve the town, eventually turning it into a sustainable city.
