**Airlines Cancel 108 Flights to Chiang Mai Ahead of Yi Peng Lantern Festival O…

Chiang Mai International Airport has also announced reduced operating hours, cutting its daily operations from around 20 hours to just 12 hours during the affected period.

Flights will be restricted during certain periods, including:
🕙 November 24: 10am to 12pm
🌙 November 24 to 25: 7pm to 1am

Authorities are particularly concerned about lanterns drifting into aircraft flight paths or leaving debris around the airport.

Last year, lantern releases were prohibited in parts of six districts, including Mueang Chiang Mai and Hang Dong. Violators could face up to five years’ imprisonment, a fine of 200,000 baht (around S$8,000), or both.

Travellers heading to Chiang Mai between November 21 and 28 are advised to check directly with their airlines for the latest flight information.

If you are flying from Singapore to Chiang Mai during this period, remember to check your flight status before leaving for the airport!
