Bookstore chain Kinokuniya’s flagship outlet at Takashimaya Shopping Centre in Orchard was temporarily closed for several hours on Monday (Nov 2) after a fire broke out in a locker room.

In response to queries from AsiaOne, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to a fire at 391A Orchard Road at about 2.55pm.

The fire involved personal items in a locker room in a fourth-floor unit. SCDF officers extinguished the flames using a fire extinguisher.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation, SCDF said.
