Google is deepening its involvement in Singapore through several key initiatives to advance healthcare delivery and build competency in relevant life sciences. It is working with clinicians, researchers, and public agencies in Singapore to deliver scalable, practical applications here and overseas.
As announced at its first-ever Google For Health Summit, Google is setting up the following programmes to achieve this outcome:
New Google research hub in Singapore for life sciences and healthcare
Google’s new research hub in Singapore will start with a local team of research scientists and software engineers.
It will focus on improving foundational AI efficiency and cultivating local scientific talent by offering targeted research support to the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).
The research hub also supports existing healthcare research activities, such as deploying MedGemma to frontline healthcare work.
This commitment follows a critical turn in Singapore’s future as an AI-friendly nation: Google is a key partner to the Singapore Government in its National AI Strategy, with significant AI investments across life sciences, healthcare, as well as developing an AI-ready workforce.
