Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Encore Edition is, at its core, the same cosmic adventure introduced in 2021. In this game, you play as Peter Quill (Star-Lord), and you lead the iconic Guardians of the Galaxy team through battles, missions, and environmental puzzle-solving.

You build relationships with members of your team, and ultimately — if you treat the other characters right — those relationships pay off.

In his review of the game, Polygon’s Ryan Gilliam praised the genuine moments between characters, writing: “After spending the entire game telling Groot to make bridges for the team, Groot walked up to a gap and placed a bridge without me asking. At first, I thought it was a bug, but Peter complimented Groot on his initiative. Similarly, Rocket began hacking electronics of his own accord. I treated my teammates with respect from the beginning, and they were paying it back to me in the gameplay itself.”

The Encore Edition brings refreshed graphics to the game, fully optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2. The Encore Edition also comes with new outfits for Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot — all of which are inspired by 1980s glam rock. You can preorder the game at a reduced price of $35.99 until Nov. 5. After that date, the price will rise to $39.99.
