WHILE Singaporeans, Malaysians and their neighbours across Southeast Asia are waiting for Indonesia to get its annual haze problem under control, one video circulating on X appears to offer a glimpse of the region’s latest firefighting technology.
Forget helicopters dumping tonnes of water, specialised fire engines or sophisticated aerial surveillance systems.
In the video, a worker was caught attempting to put out the fire with a watering can.
Yes, a watering can. And a small one too. The kind usually reserved for houseplants that have been neglected for three days, not a forest fire capable of sending smoke across international borders.
Note that the worker has not been identified as an Indonesian or even as a fire fighter working under the Indonesian government.
