Apple reportedly cutting iPhone 18 Pro production due to soft demand

The iPhone 18 Pro models may not be selling as strongly as Apple had anticipated.

Several sources familiar with Apple’s supply chain told Nikkei Asia that the iPhone maker has asked suppliers to reduce component production for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup amid what they describe as “dampened consumer demand”.

Two sources claim that component orders for October have been lowered by at least 15% compared with Apple’s initial projections. It remains to be seen whether Apple will make further adjustments to production orders from next month.

One supply chain source reportedly said demand for the new Pro models is “not as strong as previous years when all the new models are introduced all together”.

This could partly be attributed to Apple’s revised launch strategy this year. Instead of unveiling its entire iPhone lineup at the same time, Apple introduced the iPhone 18 Pro models and the iPhone Duo in September, while reportedly reserving the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 for spring 2027.
