The Japanese company behind the Switch consoles has released a new mobile app for iOS and Android called Nintendo Store, and as the name suggests, it provides easier access to the company’s online shop. Nintendo already offers several mobile apps, including the popular Nintendo Music and Nintendo Today, but this new release is something fans have been requesting for a long time.
It is no secret that 2025 has been an excellent fiscal year for Nintendo, with recent data showing that the Switch 2’s release boosted the company’s net sales. Building on that success, Nintendo expects to sell even more of its current-gen console as 2026 approaches. At the same time, the company appears to be focusing on improving access to its online store, making it easier for fans to purchase both hardware and software.
Nintendo Store App Released for iOS and Android
After nearly five years of being exclusive to Japan, the Nintendo Store app, formerly known as the My Nintendo app, has finally launched in most major regions for iOS and Android users. The app’s main function is to let fans browse, search, and add Nintendo games, gadgets, and consoles to their wish lists, with direct links to purchase them from the company’s online store. It also includes a News section that keeps users updated on the latest events, releases, and platform announcements.
Nintendo Store App Details
- Compatible Operating Systems: iOS (16.0 or later), Android (10.0 or later)
- Age Restriction: Some parts of the app are limited to users aged 17 or older
- Requirements: Nintendo Account, Internet Connection
- Size: ~46 MB
While users can browse and add Nintendo products to their wish list within the app, the purchase button redirects them to the company’s website. In other words, direct purchases through the app are not supported.
In the profile section of the Nintendo Store app, users can view their purchase history, manage My Nintendo rewards, and redeem codes. They can also track their play activity by linking the Nintendo account used in the app to their Switch console. Additionally, this section provides information on nearby Nintendo events, though this feature is optional and requires permission to access the device’s GPS.
On Google Play, Nintendo Store has an average rating of 4.1 out of 5 and has been downloaded over a million times as of this writing. Considering that the Nintendo Switch app has been downloaded over ten million times on the platform, this new app has the potential to attract even more users soon. Reviews from iOS users aren’t available yet, but the app seems to be attracting a healthy level of popularity on Apple devices as well.
