SINGAPORE: Two ringleaders who helped run a vape syndicate in Singapore with products imported from Malaysia were sentenced on Monday (Oct 5), along with one of their wives.
The syndicate was caught with more than 58,000 vape products in two “warehouses” on Oct 16, 2025. Nearly 17,000 of these items were vapes.
Wong Ee Wei, a 29-year-old Singaporean, was sentenced to 25 months’ jail and a fine of S$100,000 (US$78,000), while Kenneth Tan Hong Chang, a 31-year-old Singaporean, was given 45 months’ jail, a fine of S$36,000 and a driving ban.
Tan’s Singaporean wife, 30-year-old Tiffany Lim Hui Ping, was sentenced to 18 months’ jail and a fine of S$44,000. She was also a member of the syndicate.
Wong, who was a leader in the syndicate from mid-2022 to 2024, had earlier pleaded guilty to conspiring to possess vapes for sale and being part of an organised crime group.
Tan, who became involved in the syndicate in February 2025, pleaded guilty to similar charges as well as unrelated charges of cheating, misappropriation and traffic-related offences.
His wife pleaded guilty to a charge each for possessing vapes for sale, being part of an organised crime group and allowing a place to be used for crime.
THE SYNDICATE
From mid-2022 to Oct 16, 2025, the syndicate distributed vapes imported from Malaysia.
Comprising syndicate leaders, distributors and area distributors, the syndicate was led by a person believed to be based in Malaysia known as “Nobody”.
Wong and Tan were syndicate leaders in Singapore who respectively managed the operation’s two “warehouses” – a terrace house in Lentor near Yio Chu Kang, and a condominium in Canberra in the Sembawang area.
They would coordinate the delivery of vapes from Malaysia to Singapore as arranged by Nobody, and help to move the vapes between the two warehouses.
