American traveller documents East Coast Park beach clean-ups, earns praise online, Singapore News

Toothbrushes, shoes and even a refrigerator — Jennifer Lee has encountered all manner of rubbish while cleaning East Coast Park’s beaches.

Equipped with a litter picker and large rubbish bags, Lee, who is originally from the US state of Indiana, collects as much waste as possible as she makes her way across the beach areas.

Since posting her first vlog documenting her clean-up efforts at East Coast Park in October 2025, Lee has steadily gained support and praise online for volunteering her time to clear marine rubbish.

As of Thursday (Oct 1), the American woman has documented 29 days of beach clean-up activities on her social media accounts.

Across her videos, the most common type of litter washed up along the shoreline appears to be plastic waste, including bottles and bags.

On her 19th day, Lee came across a refrigerator, and the following day discovered what appeared to be a component of a jet ski.

As larger objects are difficult for her to dispose of, Lee mostly focuses on picking up plastic waste.

Not all of Lee’s discoveries have been rubbish. On Day 26, she spotted a raft of otters swimming and eating fish in the waters off East Coast Park.
