This year and next are shaping up to be memorable for Zelda fans. A remake of 1998’s Ocarina of Time — complete with modernized visuals, free camera controls, and fully voiced cutscenes — is due out this November, and fans are eager to revisit the kingdom of Hyrule. A special Zelda 40th-anniversary edition of the Nintendo Switch 2 has even been considered virtually impossible to preorder due to overwhelming demand.
The Zelda series debuted with The Legend of Zelda in 1986, but Ocarina of Time was the game that captured the hearts of a generation, and more than two decades after its release, the title still holds a Metacritic score of 99. However, one author noted that Ocarina of Time never fully explores the perspectives of characters other than Link, and her new book, due out next year, aims to change that.
