Dreame X60 Ultra Extreme review: A capable robot vacuum

Navigation is generally good too. Dreame uses two 120-degree AI cameras and says the robot recognises more than 320 types of objects. Around chairs, slippers and my dog’s toys, it moved close enough to clean properly without constantly bumping into them.

While the DJI Romo P that I reviewed recently navigated around clutter more confidently, the X60 Ultra Extreme’s overall cleaning system feels more complete. Its extendable arms also reach farther into the awkward gaps and edges that nearly every robot vacuum I have tested tends to miss.

Mopping is where I am less convinced. The two rotating pads work powerfully enough to remove paw marks, footprints and lighter dried stains. On a few occasions, however, I noticed the damp pads gathering fine dust into small clumps and leaving them behind. Once dry, these became gritty little lumps of dirt on the floor. It did not happen often, to be fair, but it meant I occasionally had to clean up after the robot had finished.

Such experiences only harden my belief in continuously rinsed roller mops, such as those used Dreame Aqua 10 Roller AE and Dyson Spot+Scrub AI. A roller is scraped and refreshed as it moves instead of using the same pads until the robot returns to its dock. The Aqua 10 Roller AE gave me more confidence across a larger dirty area, while the Dyson was particularly good at wet cleaning and identifying stains. The X60 Ultra Extreme’s pads clean well and reach farther, but they lack that same always-clean reassurance.

Final thoughts

The Dreame X60 Ultra Extreme shows just how narrow the differences between today’s flagship robot vacuums have become. Its 42,000Pa suction power is certainly impressive on paper, but it is not enough on its own to justify upgrading from a recent model. After all, the DJI Romo P, Dreame’s own X60 Ultra and the Aqua 10 Roller AE are already very good at vacuuming.

What makes the Extreme more interesting to me is its reach. The longer side brush and mop arm can clean areas that other robots tend to miss. Add reliable navigation, obstacle avoidance and a multi-functional dock, and this feels like one of Dreame’s more complete all-rounders. There are compromises, of course. Personally, I really do prefer a continually rinsed roller for wet mopping, and Dreame’s docks tend to be on the larger side compared to other brands like Mova or even DJI.

Then there’s the price.

The X60 Ultra Extreme is available for pre-order at S$1,799 on Dreame’s webstore, against a stated SRP of S$2,699. But even at the promotional price, it is a tough sell, simply because Dreame’s already excellent Aqua 10 Ultra Roller costs more than S$400 less and has the better wet-mopping system.

That leaves the X60 Ultra Extreme in a rather specific position. It is the Dreame robot vacuum I would choose if reaching beneath low furniture, cleaning closer to edges and crossing higher thresholds mattered more than having a continuously rinsed roller mop. Otherwise, the Aqua 10 Ultra Roller offers a more sensible balance of price and cleaning ability. The X60 Ultra Extreme is a capable all-rounder, but to justify its price, it seems to be made for homes with a particular set of cleaning problem that its longer arms were designed to solve.
