On Sept 25, the 36-year-old was sentenced to two years, 10 months, and five weeks’ jail, and two strokes of the cane after pleading guilty to four of nine charges, reported Shin Min Daily News.
Citing court documents, the Chinese paper said Mamun committed the rash act after drinking with friends at Lorong 22 Geylang in the morning of Jan 27, 2024.
At 6.15am that day, Mamun hailed a taxi and boarded the vehicle with a beer bottle in hand.
Using the bottle, the man smashed the rear window just as the taxi reached Kallang Road.
