Second-gen nasi ayam goreng hawker Shafiie is a famous face at Lucky Plaza as Mr Grumpy, aka the rudest hawker one might encounter in Singapore. If you want to dine at his Muslim-owned shop Fiie’s Cafe (which serves one of the tastiest fried chicken rice here), you have to follow ‘Fiie’s rules’. Like not chope-ing seats while you queue to order, so that others can have a chance to quickly eat and vacate for the next group of diners (spoiler: it sometimes doesn’t go down well with some folks). He recently added Ayam Gepuk to his previously single-item menu, which comes with 3 types of chilli. Customers who want extra chilli have to pay 50 cents a portion, a controversial policy which has led to some discontentment again.
