A 50-year-old man in Singapore is set to be charged over allegedly starting a fire near a mosque in the city’s central business district. As Channel NewsAsia reports, police received a report of the fire at about 9pm on Friday.
Fire near the entrance
The incident occurred near a mosque at 80 Raffles Place. According to police, Masjid Moulana Mohamed Ali is located at that address, in the basement of UOB Plaza One.
Investigators established that a container with oil had been placed near the mosque entrance, with an item of underwear put inside and set on fire. The suspect then left the scene.

A member of the public extinguished the fire, and no one was injured in the incident, police said.
