Qualcomm has unveiled its new all-in audio chip for companies making earbuds, headphones, audio glasses, and virtually anything that puts audio and voice quality first. It’s the Snapdragon Sound Elite Gen 2.
As far as we can tell, this is the first time that Snapdragon Sound audio chipsets received an “Elite” suffix (we looked at past offerings, its rebranded categorisation, and the 2021 reference phone). In our comparisons, we noticed the update adds several things (such as greater AI assistant support and an extra connectivity stack) that weren’t in its previous audio solutions, which may help partly explain why it’s now an Elite-class Snapdragon chip design.
